So I'd like to get back into the habit of Live Journal-ing about personal stuff.  I do have [ profile] cherrytop, my RL journal for this, but I've found that it's really hard to keep up with more than one journal and I don't use it much these days.  I've been thinking about leaving [ profile] cherrytop as an archive and writing about both Zuka and real life stuff here.

The only problem is that while some people on my [ profile] muffin_song friends list also follow [ profile] cherrytop , the reverse isn't true, and I don't want to bore my college friends and so on with Zuka babbling.  So I would have to make [ profile] muffin_song friends only and filter the entries into personal and Takarazuka.

I'm not sure how I feel about moving to friends only.  On one hand, more and more of my entries these days are friends only (I don't want to publicly post anything that could link me back to my fan club affiliation).  But going back to the other hand once again, I don't like accusations of elitism in the Zuka fandom, and if I made a friends only journal I would worry I was going in that direction.

I suppose I could just accept the friends request of everyone who asks and then filter my journal according to how well I know them.  *sigh* I'm feeling like a snob already.  And yet I feel uncomfortable with letting people I don't really know read about things I consider private.

For people who have done this before, any suggestions?

I haven't heard about it recently, but the memory is still strong, and it was something that I had been thinking about even before everything blew up *shrug*

It's definitely true. I just don't want to be a jerk either.

Please add me as a friend. Your journal is one of those I check on everyday.

Given that my regular journal has been flocked for almost as long as it's existed, I think it's entirely up to you what you show to the world and what you don't. In my case, it was because I was sick of my parents lecturing me about my behaviour with anonymous commenting, but you shouldn't feel obligated to show off private things to people, just because you happen to be in the same fandom.

Another random follower here coming out of the woodwork...

I actually have two journals and I tend to friends lock most of the entries on both. The reason really is I am one of those paranoid people who worry about upsetting people or stepping on there toes if they read something in my journal that they might not particularly like. Also when I talk about cosplays and other personal things I tend to friend's lock then too. Again for fics it depends on how canon they are.

Don't worry about being seem as an elitest... I'm only coming up to a year as a Zuka fan and my journals are locked.

It's completely up to you when it comes down to it, obviously. ^_^

I tried filtering friends according to various privacy levels, but it got to be a pain trying to remember who could read what so I just stopped and decided that if I didn't think some people should read something, I (1) either shouldn't post it or (2) shouldn't be LJ friends with those people (the problem came up when I was bitching about RL and RL friends were also LJ friends). So now I gave up and everyone gets the same filter, haha.

I don't think there's anything snobbish about going Friends Only. You could always just LJ cut the fangirlier posts if you don't want to spam non-fans too much.

Another random follower. For a while now, actually '_'

I think that if your friends are bored by Zuka-babble, they can always scroll down your journal. Or better yet, they could read about what you have to say.

But going FO isn't really elitism in my book. When an LJer is really selective about who they add to their f-list, that kind of depresses me. But I think your policy is good. ^^

Really, it's up to you, I suppose.

hmm....if I may add my 5 cent:
I wouldn't bother too much about elitism bla bla. It is your personal choice, who reads your entries and who doesn't, don't you think?
People, who want to read your entries will kindly ask *points to herself* and it is your right to accept or refuse. Nothing personal in that.
You are talking about your personal matters after all...

My journal is friends only, I only haven't got a nice banner showing it XD And *I* feel more comfortable with that and that's what matters. ^^

After keep following your journal almost everyday for half a year, I would like to ask if you go FO, please friend me? I love your Zuka post a lot.

And I don't think being FO mean you are elitism or anything. Don't need to worry about that. On the other hand, it means that you have your privacy and everybody who wants to read your Lj have to respect it.
