1. Tonami recently went out to tea with Maikaze Rira, or as she calls her, "Maa-san." <3333

2. This NicoNico clip of a Sky Stage News special in which the soragumi team (Micchan, Monchi and Arisa) and the yukigumi team (Kimu, Mimi, and Rinjou Kira) play Karuta.

(Karuta is a card game is traditionally played at New Year's in Japan.  Normally poems get used, but this time they use the first lines of songs.  The players then have to race each other to match up the music to the cards of various shows laying out on the table.  The songs are from all five troupes over the last two or three years, and it's kind of fun to quiz yourself on how many you can get).

I love how aggresive the Sky Fairies in particular become.  Normally they're so shy XD

There's also a clip of the talk section beforehand, in which Micchan and Kimu talk about what they do on New Year's.  Kimu likes counting down to midnight, but apparently Micchan has a bad habit of falling sleep five minutes before midnight and then waking up again five minutes after the start of the new year XD

It also cracks me up that Kimu is the only person in the universe who can make Micchan look shy and quiet by comparison XD  But they're such cute douki ♥♥♥♥

I had a dream last night that I was seeing The Brothers Karamazov live, only it was some sort of strange performance where there wasn't a stage.  Instead there was a series of rooms, and you had to rotate through the rooms (often standing only a few feet away from the actors).  In fact, there were a couple of times I had to move out of the way of the actors XD

I haven't actually seen Brothers Karamazov, but somehow I was aware that this was why Kimu and Kaname weren't in the show.  I think Hiromi was playing a revolutionary, again.  However, the only real sienne I recognized was Tonami.

My dreams tend to be more in generalities than details, but I know she sang an absolutely amazing opening song.  And then some time during the second act (and I'm blushing as I'm typing this), she slow danced with someone in the audience (who were only a few feet away).  Um...that person may have been me? ^^;;

I like dreams.  I'm certainly not going to slow dance with Shirahane Yuri in real life!!!!

Dear Tonami,

So you've had your blog for about a week or so.  I just have to say that I don't think anyone else's blog about their food and the occasional shopping trip could be so cute <3333333

Please continue to be a relaxed (and well fed) OG!  (Okay, well the relaxed part might go away when she starts rehearsal for her new show, but it still seems to be a lifestyle improvement)

She mentioned the other day that she just bought a new sofa, and cushions to go along with it.  I wouldn't be surprised if she moved out of Takarazuka, especially if she's pursuing an entertainment career.  I wonder how many of them do that...?  [profile] wao_wao , [profile] kirakira_sora , and I once saw a post-retirement Misato Maya in the mura on our way to an ochakai.  For someone like Marietta-san who doesn't seem to be be pursuing a career in the entertainment industry and is on the older side, I wonder if they end up settling down in Takarazuka, at least for a while?

I didn't even realize until an hour or so ago that today is Tonami's last day as a Takarasienne.  Seriously, where did the time go?????

She's one of my favorite musumeyaku ever, and I'll certainly miss her.  At the same time, she's off to the start of a wonderful OG career, and I can't help but feel happy for her.

I'm not sure what else I can say that isn't really obvious.  So instead I'll just say congratulations on 11 wonderful years, Tonami!!!!!
matataku_hoshi: (Tonami Princess)
I don't think I actually have words to describe Tonami's sayonara mook.

Okay, fine, maybe I do: BEST MUSUMEYAKU BOOK EVAR.

(Okay, so I haven't seen Asuka's sayonara book, and obviously Mon Bijoux was wonderful too.  But seriously, the photography is *gorgeous* and the pictures from Tonami's personal collection are *really* cute.  And if you haven't heard about the photoshoot with Tonami, Mizu, and Mizu's twin sister...)
matataku_hoshi: (Tonami Princess)
I crashed very, very early last night.  Sometime between then and waking up the initial photography for Russian Blue and hanagumi's Me and My Girl went up.

In regards to Russian Blue, it looks like it could be a really cute show, and they both look good.  But...I'll admit that it's really strange to think of a new yukigumi Daigekijou show without Tonami ;_______;  My first yukigumi show was the 2007 Elisabeth, so I've always associated yukigumi with her.  Then again, I've always been an advocate of Takarazuka-in-motion as people have been calling it, so it's not like yukigumi could have stayed the way it was, given how often and how fast things change.  I will try my best not to be bitter that Mika and not Nacchan got the new spot -_-;;  *waves the Kimu flag in an attempt to think of happy things*

As for hanagumi's MiiMai, Ayane-chan and particularly Yuu-kun look fabulous.  I don't follow hanagumi very much, but this could be a lot fun <3

I think I've hit a new low.

Last night as I was browsing for information about Asuka's photo book, I actually couldn't remember if I had read a particular bit of information in regards to this book or if it had just dreamed it.

This certain piece of information was that Asuka and Tonami were going to have a collaborative sayonara photo book, and it was going to kind of be like a second part of Mon Bijoux, except for Mihoko couldn't be in it because she already retired.

As it turns out, I dreamed this and Asuka's sayonara photo book will only be about Asuka. But I was very confused for a moment!

Even without the dreamed-up Tonami content, I want to buy this book. Except for I also want to buy Touko's sayonara book too. >.> Obviously I need to sell a kidney.

(And er, obviously the above is a joke. I think -_-;)

I'm hoping that Tonami and Ume-chan also get sayonara photo books <3

I watched the honkouen of "Aoi Tori wo Sagashite" tonight.  What a cute show!  I'm embarrassed to admit that this is actually my first Komu/Maa-chan show (and I'm not sure if it technically counts since it was also a Tom show).  Somehow I've managed to miss out on a lot of pre-Mizu yukigumi >.>  This may need to be corrected.

The performances were very solid all around and the entire cast was obviously enjoying having Tom back in the troupe, but it was the 84th class who stole the show for me.  Before this I had only seen Tonami in the strong, elegant roles that she has become known for.  Who would have known that she is just at talented at playing ditzy roles too? (although we really shouldn't be surprised)  Everyone needs to see this show if only to see her forlornly singing "Happy Birthday" to herself while wearing a bathrobe and face mask <3333  And tomboy-musumeyaku!Kimu?  Need I say more about how happy this made me?

Oh, and Kashige was adorable.

Beyond a lot of good performances, I thought it was also decently written.  Convoluted, yes, but in the Takarazuka way and therefore not bad.  There were both moments that had me rolling on the floor and some genuinely touching moments as well.  I'm looking at the TakaWiki now, and I don't understand how Ishida-sensei can write such good shows (namely Aoi Tori and Osaka Samurai), and yet also produce such wastes of my time like Sakamoto Ryoma and Reimei no Kaze.  I guess everyone has their good and bad days >.>

Only...parts of the plot got a little confusing.

Spoilery question underneath the cut )
matataku_hoshi: (Tonami Princess)
Congratulations Mika!  I'll admit that I like Nacchan better, but Mika is certainly acceptable.  (If anything, Nacchan is a little too much like Tonami, and it may have been eerie).

Oh, and other announcements
*goes off to read*
matataku_hoshi: (Tonami Princess)
Tonami is going to have her yukigumi batchmates (Kimu and Asaki Yumemi) in her music salon!!!!!  I love 84ths so, so much.  It seems like most Takarazuka fans develop a One True Class after a while, and the 84ths are mine <3

Oh, and Tonami's music salon will be called "Swan", which is very fitting <3

I just hope that (and not that Kimu herself would do this on purpose) the attention stays on Tonami and that the Tonami fans can manage to get tickets ^^;  But I imagine the director will obviously be good about leaving the attention on Tonami in the actual show and that the Kimu fans would be respectful that this is Tonami's special event.  They seem like a nice bunch.  Anyway, I've always been pleased with past dinner salons <3
matataku_hoshi: (Micchan Ramon)
I've always had a thing for the official Takarazuka postcards.  They were one of the first items I started collecting <3

Last year they only were released one set I think?  I can't figure out if it's a yearly or twice a year thing.  This time around they're being called 「2009年冬・ポートレイトポストカード」, so does that imply there will be a second set?  I remember last year's was interesting since it added some new stars to the lineup.  With all of the shakeups anticipated, I'm wondering if a future set this year would add some other up and coming stars.

Anyway, I can't help but comment on a few of my favorites XD )
matataku_hoshi: (Tonami Princess)
Tonami's retirement press conference is up.  It sounds like she's 1) excited about doing Zorro, and 2) intending to continue with acting.

It's hard to read between the lines in these sorts of things (especially in Japanese -_-;), but I'm getting the impression that she decided it was the right moment and that it was her decision.  No matter what happens from here on out (and I wish her the best in whatever she ends up doing), she's had a truly amazing career in Takarazuka.

I've seen a couple of retirements live, and the thing is...there's something celebratory about them.  It's more like what we would think of as a high school graduation than a funeral.  Even the normally unnoticed seito are recognized for what they have contributed.  I didn't see A-"R"ex senshuraku, but I did see demachi, and I have a strong memory of how happy Asahana Rinka looked.  It's not that she was happy to be leaving Takarazuka, but rather the kind of happiness that you feel at well, a school graduation.

It's sad when people leave, but at the same time I want to acknowledge and celebrate what an amazing 11 years Tonami has had.

/sentimental rambling
matataku_hoshi: (Tonami Princess)
My, this is pretty.  My one complaint would be that the design is a little busy, but I'm certainly not going to complain about people like Hiromi and Nacchan getting a spot on a poster.

And Tonami's shoulder blades and Mizu's left hand?  Nothing more needs to be said.

matataku_hoshi: (Kiriyan "up to no good")
Pick your five favorite Takarasiennes (past or present), and cast them in your dream roles.  It doesn’t matter how completely unfeasible these roles are, let your imagination run wild!  I’ve stuck to Takarazuka and musicals in my answers, but feel free to go outside of that.  (After all, Kiriyan once said that she’d love to play Jack Skellington ^^)

Especial Time: Otozuki Kei x Shirahane Yuri (Graph February 2008)

Ha! I’ve translated something that’s not Kiriyan or Micchan related!  It’s not even tsukigumi related!  Also, you get a prize if you can count how many times Kimu and Tonami laugh in this article *g*

Sometimes I feel like my translations get sketchier and sketchier as I progress.  I’d like to put some of these up on the TakaWiki (if just so I can feel like I’ve finished/accomplished something), but then I angst about the quality.  I feel strange about posting things that I’m not 100% certain about.  (Which is why there are at the moment roughly a million comments in the margins of my Luna translation >_<)

From some of the comments I had heard about this show, I was expecting it to be really bad.  Maybe it was the result of low expectations, but I enjoyed “Je t’aime” a lot.  It’s not Kimura Shinji’s best work, but at the same time it was a very fun hour and a half at the theater.

Yukigumi fans will really enjoy Je t’aime/Miroirs when it comes out on DVD.  Je t’aime isn’t the best play ever, but it was much better than I thought it would be.  Miroirs is a really great revue that I recommend for everyone.  Regardless, both halves demonstrate how strong yukigumi is right now.  Now please look at the pretty mirrors while I go steal Kimu for tsuki.

…what?

matataku_hoshi: (Tonami Princess)
The new clips from Je t'aime/Miroirs are cracking me up.  Also, Tonami makes an extremely good looking circus performer.

So I ended back up at Elisabeth again today with [profile] hanamichi_2510 and [profile] mizukusa.  A couple of quick notes:

-This show's popularity is insane.  I got on the first train of the morning and got to the theater at 6:15.  Already the B-seki were almost completely gone.  I'd say by about 7, 7:15ish all of the tachimi were gone as well.  This was on a Monday.  When I went to see Secret Hunter on a one-show weekday, not even all of the B-seki were taken by the time the box office opened at ten.

-Komu was at the show today.  Apparently [profile] hanamichi_2510 discovered this when she saw her walking down the street.  It was funny to watch all of the fans on the second floor (where we were sitting) try to spot Komu during intermission.  During Kitsch, Lucheni announced that they had a very special guest: his sempai, Asami Hikaru.  There was lots of cheering.  Apparently Ooura Mizuki was there as well, although I didn't actually see her.  After the show Komu exited through the artists' door.  She was wearing otokoyaku-esque clothing (well, insofar as she was wearing pants).

-Tonami was crying during Watashi Dake Ni.  I love this girl.

-Speaking of love: Lucheni-watching.  Today not only did Kimu laugh at the single mother brought before Frantz-Joseph, but she gave a small wave goodbye when she was dragged off.  She was also all over Madeleine and feeling up Madame Wolf.  She normally does this a lot, but I think [profile] mizukusa agreed that she was getting into it more than usual.

Okay, I had to get up at 4 this morning in order to make it to the theater.  Time for bed!

About a week ago my friend who had hooked me up with Elisabeth tickets before e-mailed me to say that she had ended up with some extra tickets.  When she offered me the chance to go again, I jumped on it.  Hey, it saved me the trouble of having to get toujitsuken ^_^

So I think this might have been a company booked show.  I'm pretty sure it was for people who had Mitsumoto Visa cards (the same company Osa does advertising for).  There was someone (who I assume was from the company?) out of stage and doing some announcements before the show started.  She then brought out Asuka Yuu, the yukigumi kumichou, who had a few words.

So then the actual show started...

There was a time about a month or two ago that my job was becoming really miserable and I was becoming pretty negative about Japan.  During that time, it was really, really good to have Takarazuka, which was something Japanese I could be positive about.  The phrase is highly cliched and I usually don't like it, but Takarazuka really is like a world of dreams.  A world that I like making visits to.
