Becca in shock
Please remind me to never complain about the lack of news again. I give you full permission to whack me if that's the case.
I...wasn't exactly expecting this. I'm pouting because I love my tsukigumi otokoyaku trio. My love for Yuuhi and Asako tends to get overshadowed by my love for Kiriyan, but that doesn't mean I don't love those two. And the idea of Yuuhi leaving and Asako and Mihoko eventually retiring...I worry about the void that it would leave. *sigh* And with Sueko-san and Eri-san gone... Kiriyan is my favorite part of tsukigumi. But she's one of many parts, and I worry about what will happen to the troupe if too many of those parts are taken away.
Is this possibly good for Yuuhi's career, however? Even being a 2.5-bante, she was always stuck behind Kiriyan. Is she now being moved into position as Un-chan's eventual successor? ETA: The word on the street seems to be that Yuuhi is being moved as an upperclassmen and not as part of the star track. This makes sense, and honestly, I'd rather see her stick around longer in another troupe than retire. From what I understand, upperclassmen negotiate their contracts year to year. I think if Yuuhi truly, truly, didn't want to be in hanagumi, she would have retired instead.
Also, if Asako retires and Kiriyan becomes top, who becomes the nibante and sanbante of tsukigumi? Ahi and Sonoka? If they're going to be moving in people from other troupes, can we possibly steal Kaname? Or can we have Micchan back?

On the other hand, I can fully understand the concern of the management of the Revue Company over the new Hanagumi. And that has been clear to any Hanagumi fans, unfortunately. The gap in popularity between Osa and the rest of otokoyaku stars incl. Yuu is unbelievably huuuuuuge. Osa always had an incredible number of people waiting for her at iri/de while Yuu and So had only a handful...and sadly, that's no exaggeration. Of course Yuuhi cannot fill that gap, but it's better than doing nothing while watching Hanagumi sink to the bottom. This is a very clever marketing strategy of Hankyu to get our eyes pop out and bring us to the next Hanagumi show.
The possibility of Yuuhi succeeding Matobu as top otokoyaku is questionable. She is already Ken-16 and turning Ken-17 soon (Matobu is Ken-13). My bet is she will stay in Hanagumi as a sort of "bekkaku" like Shii-chan in Hoshi.

By the way, Sky Stage question since I know that you have it: If I get a combo special tuner for e2 by Sky Perfect/DVD-R recorder, will I automatically be able to record things and then copy them later? Is there any kind of snag here like copyright protection that I'm missing?

A good question. You can make a copy just one time. To be correct, you can record things on HDD, and then transfer them to DVD-R (they do not remain on HDD). That's some kind of copy protection called "copy once" コピーワンス.
My friend who is a 78th class fan is raging against Hankyu now... Her account is ; Asako left Hanagumi without a chance to say goodbye to Hana fans. Kashige was transferred to Sora and then soon retired. And Yuuhi. She, too, was not given a proper treatment (means; Taki-san's announcement of her transfer to Hana, Some "Hana demo ganbarimasu" words from Yuuhi, Asako's closing speech to wish her well in Hana at Mahoroba/MM Tokyo senshuraku). *sighs* But I'm gradually getting interested to see a trio of Yuu/Yuuhi/So. I hope Yuuhi will blend into Hanagumi soon with support from ex-Tsuki Saota fukukumicho and her classmate Ouji.

ETA: That really does sound awful, doesn't it -_-; I swear, an embarrassing portion of my paycheck goes to Hankyu these days and I'm not a big fan of copying original DVDs
I'm a bit confused. I was at the Tokyo Mahoroba/MM Tokyo senshuraku, and I don't remember Yuuhi being brought up at all (granted, my Japanese is a bit spotty, but...). Do you mean the A-"R"ex Osaka and Bow Hall Hollywood Lover senshuraku performances recently?

Actually Sky Stage runs the same program several times during the month (or more than 10 times over a few months), so this "copy once" protection has not been brought up as much of a problem. Take NOW ON STAGE of the Tokyo run of "Mahoroba/MM" for example, it run 19 times during October and November.
No, she wasn't. And THAT is what Yuuhi fans are complaining about that Yuuhi was not put through a proper process before being transferred; no mention of her leaving Tsuki for Hana at the senshuraku of the main stage in front of Tsukigumi fans.

Not to mention I can't imagine Asako without Yuuhi ... *sighs*

I've also really loved the Asako/Yuuhi pairing, but I'm trying to remind myself that they've been in different troupes for most of their careers. I'm sure they'll continue to be friends, although I certainly will miss seeing their chemistry on stage.
ETA: Also, at least this is happening in stages. Even if Asako and Mihoko are retiring after the next Grand Theater show after Me and My Girl, I don't think their last performance would be until January 2009.

Still - I think I still need a few days to full understand this. The full impact of this decision still hasn't reached me 100%. Not to mention I was looking foward to "Me and my girl" with all of them. So much for that ...
Thank god this is happening in stages! I need quite some time to get used to all this. o.O

I'm not opposed to Micchan, though ^_~. How can you NOT love the girl.
*sighs* Oh, Remi ;_; First Rinka retiring, now Remi transferring out? What's happening to all of my Musumeyaku ;_;
I definately wasn't expecting a Yuuhi transfer... not after all these years spent with the troupe. I think it's pretty much been figured for a while that Yuuhi would never make top. Perhaps we'll have the next best, and she'll stick around for the LONG run?

I really don't think they move Yuuhi out to be an upperclassmen. What sense does that make? She always has been in Tsukigumi and I am sure she would prefer to stay there and be Tsuki kumichou rather than be "some upperclassmen" in Hana. And why should they move her around if they did not have anything bigger in mind for her? ^^; I can't imagine that somehow.
