(Takarazuka) icon spam

So yeah, I've basically been making icons to entertain myself at school when I don't have anything else to do.  I've also been doing it after school, too.  In its own way, it's kind of relaxing.

I'd like to think I'm slowly getting better.  (Mostly I'm just thrilled that these no longer look like they were made using Paint).  I've been using Micrografx for some things, but now GIMP as well.  I'm having fun playing with the Color Filter, sharpness, text, and a little with brushes, but I think I need to learn how to do some other effects.  The problem with most tutorials is that while they'll show you how to make one icon, they won't really explain the why or how you'd apply it to something else.

Eventually I may be brave enough to post these to million_dreams or takarazuka.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.  But in the mean time:
