1. Tonami recently went out to tea with Maikaze Rira, or as she calls her, "Maa-san." <3333

2. This NicoNico clip of a Sky Stage News special in which the soragumi team (Micchan, Monchi and Arisa) and the yukigumi team (Kimu, Mimi, and Rinjou Kira) play Karuta.

(Karuta is a card game is traditionally played at New Year's in Japan.  Normally poems get used, but this time they use the first lines of songs.  The players then have to race each other to match up the music to the cards of various shows laying out on the table.  The songs are from all five troupes over the last two or three years, and it's kind of fun to quiz yourself on how many you can get).

I love how aggresive the Sky Fairies in particular become.  Normally they're so shy XD

There's also a clip of the talk section beforehand, in which Micchan and Kimu talk about what they do on New Year's.  Kimu likes counting down to midnight, but apparently Micchan has a bad habit of falling sleep five minutes before midnight and then waking up again five minutes after the start of the new year XD

It also cracks me up that Kimu is the only person in the universe who can make Micchan look shy and quiet by comparison XD  But they're such cute douki ♥♥♥♥

  • The cast list (as in who will be in the show) for tsukigumi came out on July 5th.  This means that we're overdue for soragumi :P  I doubt anything drastic would happen at this point (*knocks on wood*), but I would feel better if I knew that transfers weren't going to mess with my travel plans.  Plus I would imagine that the sooner a cast list is announced, the sooner I'll get ticket and ochakai forms.  (The problem is that right now plane fares are pretty reasonable.  Please pray with me that this doesn't change? T_____T)

  • I'm having trouble getting worked up about the new schedule.  I think it's because poor yukigumi is stuck with an Ueda Shinji show and soragumi has no announcements, which leaves only tsukigumi.  I'm not much of a nihonmono fan, but the plot of Yukariko (if I ever manage to understand it) sounds interesting.  That being said, I wish Kiriyan would get a show composed specifically for her, especially if her Daigekijou ohirome kouen ends up being Pimpernel.

Dreams

matataku_hoshi: (Tonami "try me")
I had a dream last night that I was seeing The Brothers Karamazov live, only it was some sort of strange performance where there wasn't a stage.  Instead there was a series of rooms, and you had to rotate through the rooms (often standing only a few feet away from the actors).  In fact, there were a couple of times I had to move out of the way of the actors XD

I haven't actually seen Brothers Karamazov, but somehow I was aware that this was why Kimu and Kaname weren't in the show.  I think Hiromi was playing a revolutionary, again.  However, the only real sienne I recognized was Tonami.

My dreams tend to be more in generalities than details, but I know she sang an absolutely amazing opening song.  And then some time during the second act (and I'm blushing as I'm typing this), she slow danced with someone in the audience (who were only a few feet away).  Um...that person may have been me? ^^;;

I like dreams.  I'm certainly not going to slow dance with Shirahane Yuri in real life!!!!

I watched the honkouen of "Aoi Tori wo Sagashite" tonight.  What a cute show!  I'm embarrassed to admit that this is actually my first Komu/Maa-chan show (and I'm not sure if it technically counts since it was also a Tom show).  Somehow I've managed to miss out on a lot of pre-Mizu yukigumi >.>  This may need to be corrected.

The performances were very solid all around and the entire cast was obviously enjoying having Tom back in the troupe, but it was the 84th class who stole the show for me.  Before this I had only seen Tonami in the strong, elegant roles that she has become known for.  Who would have known that she is just at talented at playing ditzy roles too? (although we really shouldn't be surprised)  Everyone needs to see this show if only to see her forlornly singing "Happy Birthday" to herself while wearing a bathrobe and face mask <3333  And tomboy-musumeyaku!Kimu?  Need I say more about how happy this made me?

Oh, and Kashige was adorable.

Beyond a lot of good performances, I thought it was also decently written.  Convoluted, yes, but in the Takarazuka way and therefore not bad.  There were both moments that had me rolling on the floor and some genuinely touching moments as well.  I'm looking at the TakaWiki now, and I don't understand how Ishida-sensei can write such good shows (namely Aoi Tori and Osaka Samurai), and yet also produce such wastes of my time like Sakamoto Ryoma and Reimei no Kaze.  I guess everyone has their good and bad days >.>

Only...parts of the plot got a little confusing.

It made my speculation-happy heart very joyful last night to see some new show announcements <3333  The rest of the 2009 schedule (as in which troupe is playing where, *not* which shows and their leads) has been up here for a while now.

The things we still don't know about are:

Of course Hankyu will probably throw in a bunch of transfers just to throw me off XD

It's been interesting reading the opinions on potential tsukigumi Elisabeth casting.  Some people are really excited about the idea of someone they like being cast as Franz, and some dread the idea.  The same goes for Lucheni.[Poll #1338015]

So I think I started this translation at least six months ago, when I was still living in Japan and had a lot of free time at my desk to work on things like this.  Having dusted this one off and finished it, I'm finding that I actually miss translating.  I think I need to do it more often, if only to keep up my paltry Japanese skills.

The standard disclaimers:
I'm only an amateur who does this for fun, so my apologies for any mistakes contained within.  These take me forever to do so feedback is greatly appreciated.  Do not repost or retranslate without first getting permission from me.

Wasn't this supposed to be a nihonmono?  Did I miss something?

In other news, Kimu is pretty.

Calendars!

matataku_hoshi: (Kiriyan "up to no good")
Hankyu just made an announcement about the release of the 2009 calendars, which will be on October 10th.  Along with the usual suspects, Kimu will have her own personal calendar this year.  She also makes it onto the star calendar along with the top stars and nibante.  This fact, along with a lot of other little things, only confirms my hunch that Hankyu is treating Kimu like a second nibante in yukigumi.

Kimu is on the short list of my list of favorite otokoyaku, but at the same time I hate the idea of Yumiko being passed up.  I'd like to see Yumiko get at least one show as top post-Mizu.

700 yen per personal calendar isn't bad.  Obviously I need the Kiriyan calendar, but finances depending I may need the Kimu and Touko ones too... *plots in an evil manner*

P.S. Based on the timing of the 2008 schedule release this time last year, I'm expecting an announcement about the 2009 schedule any day now.  As I've whined about before, yours truly doesn't have internet at home, meaning I can't stalk the internet every second of the day.  (I can get to Gmail and even Live Journal on my cell phone, but my phone's inability to display Japanese makes looking at the official page useless).  In any case, I expect one of you lot to e-mail me if any announcements are made :P

Pick your five favorite Takarasiennes (past or present), and cast them in your dream roles.  It doesn’t matter how completely unfeasible these roles are, let your imagination run wild!  I’ve stuck to Takarazuka and musicals in my answers, but feel free to go outside of that.  (After all, Kiriyan once said that she’d love to play Jack Skellington ^^)

Especial Time: Otozuki Kei x Shirahane Yuri (Graph February 2008)

Ha! I’ve translated something that’s not Kiriyan or Micchan related!  It’s not even tsukigumi related!  Also, you get a prize if you can count how many times Kimu and Tonami laugh in this article *g*

Sometimes I feel like my translations get sketchier and sketchier as I progress.  I’d like to put some of these up on the TakaWiki (if just so I can feel like I’ve finished/accomplished something), but then I angst about the quality.  I feel strange about posting things that I’m not 100% certain about.  (Which is why there are at the moment roughly a million comments in the margins of my Luna translation >_<)

I went back to Kimi wo Aishiteru/Mirroirs last night.  This isn't really a review, but I have some notes anyway.

In other news, there was a flyer for Singin’ in the Rain (not the final version, obviously).  Ume-chan was still listed as the lead.  I would guess that it was printed post-Ume’s accident, so knock on wood this means that she’s hopefully still going to be the musumeyaku lead.  There was also a picture of Tani in the Don Lockwood coat (looking good ^^) as well as a couple of Tani and Ume.  I’m not sure if the latter were from the hoshigumi production, though.

From some of the comments I had heard about this show, I was expecting it to be really bad.  Maybe it was the result of low expectations, but I enjoyed “Je t’aime” a lot.  It’s not Kimura Shinji’s best work, but at the same time it was a very fun hour and a half at the theater.

Yukigumi fans will really enjoy Je t’aime/Miroirs when it comes out on DVD.  Je t’aime isn’t the best play ever, but it was much better than I thought it would be.  Miroirs is a really great revue that I recommend for everyone.  Regardless, both halves demonstrate how strong yukigumi is right now.  Now please look at the pretty mirrors while I go steal Kimu for tsuki.

…what?

So I ended back up at Elisabeth again today with [profile] hanamichi_2510 and [profile] mizukusa.  A couple of quick notes:

-This show's popularity is insane.  I got on the first train of the morning and got to the theater at 6:15.  Already the B-seki were almost completely gone.  I'd say by about 7, 7:15ish all of the tachimi were gone as well.  This was on a Monday.  When I went to see Secret Hunter on a one-show weekday, not even all of the B-seki were taken by the time the box office opened at ten.

-Komu was at the show today.  Apparently [profile] hanamichi_2510 discovered this when she saw her walking down the street.  It was funny to watch all of the fans on the second floor (where we were sitting) try to spot Komu during intermission.  During Kitsch, Lucheni announced that they had a very special guest: his sempai, Asami Hikaru.  There was lots of cheering.  Apparently Ooura Mizuki was there as well, although I didn't actually see her.  After the show Komu exited through the artists' door.  She was wearing otokoyaku-esque clothing (well, insofar as she was wearing pants).

-Tonami was crying during Watashi Dake Ni.  I love this girl.

-Speaking of love: Lucheni-watching.  Today not only did Kimu laugh at the single mother brought before Frantz-Joseph, but she gave a small wave goodbye when she was dragged off.  She was also all over Madeleine and feeling up Madame Wolf.  She normally does this a lot, but I think [profile] mizukusa agreed that she was getting into it more than usual.

Okay, I had to get up at 4 this morning in order to make it to the theater.  Time for bed!

About a week ago my friend who had hooked me up with Elisabeth tickets before e-mailed me to say that she had ended up with some extra tickets.  When she offered me the chance to go again, I jumped on it.  Hey, it saved me the trouble of having to get toujitsuken ^_^

So I think this might have been a company booked show.  I'm pretty sure it was for people who had Mitsumoto Visa cards (the same company Osa does advertising for).  There was someone (who I assume was from the company?) out of stage and doing some announcements before the show started.  She then brought out Asuka Yuu, the yukigumi kumichou, who had a few words.

So then the actual show started...

There was a time about a month or two ago that my job was becoming really miserable and I was becoming pretty negative about Japan.  During that time, it was really, really good to have Takarazuka, which was something Japanese I could be positive about.  The phrase is highly cliched and I usually don't like it, but Takarazuka really is like a world of dreams.  A world that I like making visits to.
