matataku_hoshi: (Finch "what?")
This morning I had the weirdest dream.

I went to check my mail, and I had a reijou.  (In reality Casablanca senshuraku was only two weeks ago, and I stalk my mailbox on a daily basis.  Thus far I've only received reijou from Micchan.  But given that Eri-chan and Mitsuki have both sent me things before, I'm still hopeful ~_^)

Only in my dream, the reijou I received was from some underclassman I had never written and didn't even know who they were.

My mailbox is a drop-in slot.  So sometimes if there are junk flyers you have to pull them out before the rest of the mail can drop out.  In this case I pulled some other stuff out, only to find my mailbox overflowing with reijou, all from people I 1) didn't know, and more importantly, 2) hadn't written to.  I also got a bunch of random things like photos (sent without envelopes using 10 cent stamps?) and programs from Mami's ochakai (Micchan apparently had a guest spot and sang two songs...?)

I got woken up by my phone going off, and by that point I was more relieved than anything else ^^;

1. Right at this moment, soragumi is performing Casablanca for the final time.  I'm excited about their next round of projects (and it's not like I've seen the show since early December), but I still feel a little sad.  I really loved Casablanca, and I'm so grateful I got to see it live.

2.  Shuugoubi for Shangri La is on Thursday, apparently.  There's something wrong with me (or rather I've gotten sadly accustomed to overworked soragumisei) when I think, "They get until Thursday off!"  Given that Shangri La starts in about a month, I was worried it was going to be one of those cases where okeiko began two days after Tokyo raku.  *sigh* I do hope they get a decent vacation sometime soon.

3. The end of January marked three years since I became a Takarazuka fan.  (Where exactly has the time gone...?)

matataku_hoshi: (Nanami Hiroki "Bara ni Furu Ame")

I’m lucky to have been able to see three shinjinkouen performances since becoming a Takarazuka fan.  They’re always so, so much fun.  Shinko performers only get one chance per run to do their performance and as a result always put 200% into their roles.

Shinkos are always a little rough around the edges, but even with that I found the Casablanca shinko very, very enjoyable on its own.  There were a *lot* of promising siennes in the cast.

My review under the cut )

matataku_hoshi: (Micchan "stars")
Since I've gotten home, I haven't managed to get any work done on my grad school admissions essays. And yet I seem to have found the time to finish my Casablanca review AND write a Christmas card to Micchan >.> For the record, I went into this show thinking of it as "Takarazuka Does Casablanca." I don't think anyone could be Humphrey Bogart, etc. so I tried to think of this "Casablanca" as a completely different animal.

So in conclusion…no, it’s not an absolutely perfect show. But I really, really love it anyway, and I really recommend that everyone see it

This is so not cool T_____________T

I keep on looking at the star tab in hopes that people will be back in the show, but no such luck...

Masako T________T

What terrifies me is that the really highly ranked people may not even have the option of calling out sick unless they're physically at the point where they can't stand up any more. And given that Micchan is also rehearsing for the buyouakai, I really do worry about her.

Not to mention everyone else.

Get well soon, soragumi!

ETA: Totally didn't look at the bottom of the announcement. It looks like at least Kacha, Dai-chan, Kuracchi, Kyanon, and Sattsun are back as of today's show. That's something at least.
matataku_hoshi: (Shirosaki Ai kumibon)
Has anyone seen a complete set list for Asako's sayonara show?  One of the news sites listed the songs that Asako sang, but didn't mention anything about the other taidansha.

I'll admit that I'm particularly interested in whether or not the girl in the icon got anything <3

ETA: One more thing, as long as I'm posting.

So I'll be seeing seeing soragumi's Casablanca for the first time about two and a half weeks from now.  Shonichi is this Friday.  Can I request that if anyone on my f-list is going to post images/reviews etc., that it be done behind a cut?  I'm trying hard not to spoil myself before I see the show <3

ETA 2: A friend of mine is saying she doesn't think Ai-chan got anything.  This makes me exceedingly grumpy.
matataku_hoshi: (Nanami Hiroki "Bara ni Furu Ame")
CASABLANCA SHINKO ROLES!!!!!

KACHA AS THE LEAD!!!!!!

KAI-CHAN AS NIBANTE!!!!!!

AND ERI-CHAN'S FIRST SHINKO LEAD!!!!!!!!!!

*continues running around excitedly*

(Yeah, [info]wao_wao and co. have trained me well ^^;)

Seriously, Fujisaki Eri is perfect for this role, as she has a lot of spunk.  She's been ignored in shinkos lately and I'm so glad she's getting some recognition.  Nagina Ruumi as the lead was a no-brainer, but I'm glad that Nanami Hiroki will also get a good role.
matataku_hoshi: (Micchan Kageki "hearts")
Okay, so what little there is of the Casablanca cast list I like very, very much.  Micchan got the role I wanted for her, Tomochin will get another delicious villain role, and Ban-san will be Sam!!!  I don't know why I kept on imagining a younger actress getting this role, but giving Sam to Ban-san as a sayonara role is a stroke of genius.  She'll get to sing a lot AND it's a really memorable role.

If she has to retire, at least they've been treating her well lately with both her dinner show and giving her this role.

But as for the rest of the cast not being announced as of right now...Koike, why do I have a feeling that you haven't finished the script yet?  :P

ETA: Okay, truth be told, there aren't really any big roles past the ones that have already been announced.  The only ones that stand out in my mind are the guy who gets shot at the beginning for his letters of transit and a few of the Ricks' Cafe staff.  But even if there aren't a lot of big parts, I have a feeling (*knock on wood*) this is going to be a very good show for watching people doing cute things in the background.  After all, the majority of the action takes place in a night club.
matataku_hoshi: (Nanami Hiroki "Bara ni Furu Ame")
The complete cast came out today.

Senka: Todoroki Yuu

Hanagumi: Asaka Manato, Shirahana Remi, Nozomi Fuuto

Yuki: Mizu Natsuki, Aihara Mika, Ayabuki Mao, Otozuki Kei, Ayana Oto, Ozuki Tooma, Sagiri Seina, Saou Kurama, Daigo Seshiru, Ootsuki Sayu, Renjou Makoto, Karyou Shizuru, Manaka Ayu

Hoshi: Yuzuki Reon, Yumesaki Nene, Suzumi Shio, Ayami Haya, Ouki Kaname, Yumeno Seika, Kurenai Yuzuru, Aono Yuki, Makaze Suzuho

Sora: Oozora Yuuhi, Nono Sumika, Yuumi Hiro, Ranju Tomu, Toki Irisu, Hanakage Arisu, Harukaze Misato, Houshou Dai, Hasami Yuuya, Nagina Ruumi, Junya Chitose, Aihana Chisaki, Nanami Hiroki

Chorus: Otohana Yuri (Hoshi), Toumi Sarasa (Yuki), Nanase Ririko (Sora), Mikage Rin (Sora), Kanon Mai (Sora), Fujisaki Eri (Sora), Hanasato Mana (Sora), Momochi Ito (Sora), Matsukaze Akira (Sora), Hoshibuki Ayato (Sora), Fuuma Kakeru

------------

-I'm really excited to see that Kai-chan (Nanami Hiroki) is in the regular soragumi cast.  I don't think she's the top star track type, but the company has been paying attention to her and that makes me very happy <3

-Had tsukigumi been around for this one, it would have been funny to maybe see Asako try to do a one-woman Elisabeth ;)  Ah well.

-Looking at the hoshigumi lineup, I think I finally see why everyone is complaining about them being so young ^^; (For a while I was jealous that they at least have upperclassmen to play the mother/father type roles.  In comparison, tsukigumi right now has Hanase Mizuka, an 81st, as its oldest musumeyaku...)

-As much as I'm glad that sora will be appearing in the TCA special this year (it's been a while!!), I feel bad for Yuuhi, Sumika, Tomu, and Micchan (and I here I was trying to make an entire post without mentioning her ^^;) who have to rehearse for the TCA special, the buyoukai, AND perform in Casablanca T_______T  But they've at least had a decent amount of time off between Ooeyama Kaden/Phoenix Wright and the start of Casablanca rehearsals <3

...Exactly how crazy have we (and the siennes we fangirl) become when getting two weeks off after months of non-stop rehearsing/performing seems reasonable? -_-;
matataku_hoshi: (Micchan and Tomu)
So we have our first image for Casablanca, and er...it's a little too photoshopped for my taste -_-;  It'll be interesting to see what the actual poster will look like.  ETA: Never mind, as [livejournal.com profile] quinquin  pointed out they posted the actual poster five minutes later here.

We also now officially know that Tomu will be playing Victor Laszlo, Ilsa (Sumika)'s husband.  This was kind of a no-brainer IMO.  (Keep in mind that Tomu and Sumika interacted in their hanagumi years.  Sumika played Tomu's girlfriend in "Scout")

I really am curious what they're going to do with the casting (and not just with Micchan).  With two senka members in the cast, it really could go a bunch of different ways.  *sigh* I guess I'll just have to wait for shuugoubi, which should be sometime in the second half of September.

I'm expecting that it'll be Yuuhi, Tomu, and Sumika at the press conference tomorrow.  I worry sometimes about Micchan falling off the radar (she hasn't been on a poster in a while), but I'm really excited about this show and I'm choosing not to dwell on it too much now :)

matataku_hoshi: (Micchan blame)
...we have a list of who will be in Casablanca!!!

Why was I anxiously awaiting this?  Because now that Micchan is officially in the cast, my club can actually send me forms and tell me when the ochakai date is.  Meaning that I can actually buy a plane ticket and start planning what else I can see, as a lot of things depend on the timing.  Of course the club already said that they weren't sending out our 2009 club cards and such until after All of Me is finished in mid-September, and I have a feeling that our Casablanca ticket forms will be included in there.  But ticket sales start on October 10th and you would think that they'd want to give us some time to get the forms back to them?  Or so I hope?  I'm worried about airfare going up, and I do eventually need to give some notice at work about when I'll be gone ^^;

On the other hand, all of this coming up means that I also have to get the cash together to buy tickets not only for Casablanca, but for Last Play as well.  And possibly a few other things depending on the timing.  (Thank God most clubs don't seem to request ochakai money until a ilttle later on.)

Anyway, we get Isono-san AND Ban-san! :D

For the record, I personally don't think this rules out anyone being transferred into shin-tsukigumi.  The mura run of Casablanca ends two weeks before the Tokyo run of Last Play, and there's no reason why someone couldn't be pulled out then.

Er...I don't say that to create panic.  There's just certain scenarios that I'm rooting for >.>

In any case, now I'm anxious for who will be playing who.  The casting from sanbante down could go a number of different ways and I'm excited to see how it will turn out.

matataku_hoshi: (Micchan blue)
Okay, so Micchan will be in the buyoukai again this year.    That makes for her fourth year in a row!  I'm afraid that like fine wine, the art of buyou escapes me.  It's something that I know has a lot of value, but I just don't know how to judge and appreciate everything that goes into it.  But if this is Micchan's fourth year in a row, I wonder if the company thinks that she's good at it?  (The first year was with tsukigumi, and the other three were/will be with soragumi).  Tomu is also in the cast, which will be her third year in a row o.O

Also in the cast are:

Senka: Matsumoto Yuri, Todoroki Yu, Kyou Misa, Kou Akemi, Ichihara Kei, Itsumine Aki, and Miho Keiko
Hoshigumi: Yuzuki Reon, Yumesaki Nene, Suzumi Shio, Tsurumi Mayuu, Shirotae Natsu, Kai Hayato, Asato Mao, Miharu Ayaka, Hishiro Yua, Makaze Suzuho, Seki Yutio, Kizaki Reo, Wakanatsu Ayame, Honjou Kureha
Soragumi: Oozora Yuuhi, Nono Sumika, Ranju Tomu, Hokushou Kairi

...It occurs to me that I may be in Japan for this.  I'm still waiting on an ochakai date, which will determine everything.

I worry about Micchan because this will be yet another extra thing she'll have to rehearse for.  (Then again, who knows, maybe she enjoys it.  I know she said that the 2006 buyoukai was one of her favorite performing experiences) But in between her dinner show, probably being in the 2009 TCA special, and now the buyoukai, I worry T_________T

Also, the speculation in this thread made me worried that Micchan or even Tomu would be pulled out of soragumi to be Kiriyan's nibante, maybe even before Casablanca.  I was starting to wonder if the lack of a Casablanca cast list was because Hankyu was waiting on some sort of transfer annoucnement (and they still might be.  I have a theory that I don't dare say out loud for fear of it not happening).  But if both Micchan and Tomu are announced to be in the buyoukai (which is in the middle of Casablanca's mura run) and they're doing so as soragumi members, then neither of them could be transferred out before mura senshuraku.

...as someone who is trying to make travel plans, this is very good news :D  Obviously I have opinions about what goes on after this, but I'm selfishly relieved that two of my favorite siennes will be in Casablanca.  After all, it's going to be much harder to get tickets to Last Play ;)

Oh dear, how did it become 1:30 in the morning? ^^;
matataku_hoshi: (Tani as Lupin)
So yesterday I decided to rewatch A/L.  It had been over a year and it was fun to revisit it, especially since I know soragumi a lot better now than I did back then.  It's one of those silly, campy shows that I love.  And I'm always a sucker for a good secret identity tale.

I came to the conclusion that A/L and Bara ni Furu Ame are basically the same story, only with vastly different directing styles XD After all:

  • Tani and Ume knew each other when they were younger but were separated.  They encounter each other again as adults (or in the case of BaraAme, when they're older)
  • Tani is poor while Ume is from a wealthy family.
  • Tomochin is the evil fiance who is actually after Ume's family's wealth.
  • Ume has a bad relationship with her parents, who want her to get married to Tomochin for the wrong reasons.  Tani eventually has to rescue Ume from being forced into marrying Tomochin.
Cut for vague and not-so-vague spoilers about the endings of A/L and Bara ni Furu Ame respectively )

In other news, the lack of a Casablanca cast list may cause me to pull my hair out, especially with people speculating in [livejournal.com profile] ekusudei 's entry that someone Micchan or Miwacchi's age would make a good nibante to Kiriyan.  (Er...not that I don't want Micchan and Kiriyan performing together, but it's complicated and would mess up my travel plans.  Which is an entirely different post.  *points* Go and watch A/L instead!  It's really cute).
matataku_hoshi: (Tsukigumi family)
  • The cast list (as in who will be in the show) for tsukigumi came out on July 5th.  This means that we're overdue for soragumi :P  I doubt anything drastic would happen at this point (*knocks on wood*), but I would feel better if I knew that transfers weren't going to mess with my travel plans.  Plus I would imagine that the sooner a cast list is announced, the sooner I'll get ticket and ochakai forms.  (The problem is that right now plane fares are pretty reasonable.  Please pray with me that this doesn't change? T_____T)

  • I'm having trouble getting worked up about the new schedule.  I think it's because poor yukigumi is stuck with an Ueda Shinji show and soragumi has no announcements, which leaves only tsukigumi.  I'm not much of a nihonmono fan, but the plot of Yukariko (if I ever manage to understand it) sounds interesting.  That being said, I wish Kiriyan would get a show composed specifically for her, especially if her Daigekijou ohirome kouen ends up being Pimpernel.
Commentary on Hamlet, Masaki, and tsuki's new pecking order. Underneath cut because it gets political. )

Casablanca

matataku_hoshi: (Micchan Second Life profile)
So tonight I sat down and watched Casablanca.  It was AMAZING, and definitely deserves its status as a great American film.   If you haven't seen it, I really do recommend it.  I can feel my willpower and common sense melting, although it's not completely gone yet.

This only makes me more excited about the Takarazuka version.  I suspect it could be a very talk-y show, but it suits the atmosphere.  And I wonder how they'll incorporate "As Time Goes By" and the other songs?  Or maybe they'll have to go with other songs if getting the original copyright is a problem?

Anyway, I decided to write down my casting predictions.  I always like doing these and going back later to see how I did.  (For the record, I'd like to brag that [profile] wao_wao  and I predicted long before the summary of Paradise Prince was released that Tomu would be an evil, corporate villain trying to get Tani to sell out and Micchan would play Tani's friend XD)

Here's looking at you, kid. )

YES PLEASE.

CASABLANCA.  SORAGUMI.  FEDORAS.

...okay, fine, I haven't seen the movie.

But I'm going to rent it!

And after I rent it, I will sell off all of my possessions to make this work *knocks on wood*  (ETA: Okay, okay, obviously still not running into anything, as I'm trying really hard to be a Mature Responsible Adult.  But this is certainly a point in favor of going this November.  The only thing that could compete with this would be if Micchan got a lead in the spring...but who knows at this point, really)

*looks around* And no transfers, 'kay thanks.
