  • The cast list (as in who will be in the show) for tsukigumi came out on July 5th.  This means that we're overdue for soragumi :P  I doubt anything drastic would happen at this point (*knocks on wood*), but I would feel better if I knew that transfers weren't going to mess with my travel plans.  Plus I would imagine that the sooner a cast list is announced, the sooner I'll get ticket and ochakai forms.  (The problem is that right now plane fares are pretty reasonable.  Please pray with me that this doesn't change? T_____T)

  • I'm having trouble getting worked up about the new schedule.  I think it's because poor yukigumi is stuck with an Ueda Shinji show and soragumi has no announcements, which leaves only tsukigumi.  I'm not much of a nihonmono fan, but the plot of Yukariko (if I ever manage to understand it) sounds interesting.  That being said, I wish Kiriyan would get a show composed specifically for her, especially if her Daigekijou ohirome kouen ends up being Pimpernel.
  • On the other hand, rock Hamlet is intriguing (when is the last time that Fuji-sensei did a play anyawy?).  Masaki isn't the first person I would have picked to play Hamlet, but she's a good actress and I get the impression that her range has been increasing lately.  There's been a lot of talk recently of how all of the young things are taking over Takarazka.  Truthfully I'm not sure if I completely buy into it, but that's an entirely different can of worms.
If I were Hankyu, I would have given the tsuki spring Bow to Sonoka or Morie, simply because they haven't been getting as much attention in comparison.  But I like Masaki much, much more than some of the other people her age who have been promoted rapidly.  If anything I worry about her...she's suddenly getting a LOT of pressure on her, and that can't be easy.

Honestly, I'm a little surprised that Hankyu has not elected to transfer someone into tsukigumi to be Kiriyan's nibante (right now the signs seem to be pointing to Masaki getting that position).  You would think that Kimu would be a perfect candidate, given that tsukigumi doesn't have a lot of people between Kiriyan and Masaki's age that they're actually promoting.  Besides, yukigumi has two nibante right now, and you would think they could afford to lose one.  (I refer to this plan as "Kimu GET!")

But if it is indeed Masaki who ends up with the position, well...I'd honestly rather have Kimu, but Masaki is  fine by me.  I just don't want to see her become so overworked that she loses the enthusiasm that made me fond of her in the first place.

My prediction for next year is that Yuki will see Mizu step down. I wouldn't be surprised by it at all, given how drawn she's been looking lately. Yumiko with Kimu as Nibante looks like the new line up for Snow. I could be mistaken there...

Also, Masaki owned the stage so much in Elisabeth. I'm so glad to see her getting pushed forward, although I do worry on the pressure.

Hmm, you're right, Mizu will be coming up on three years by 2010. That being said, one would hope she'd stick around a while longer given that most of the other tops are relatively new. (She's the hottest top star around right now in terms of popularity). But if she does decide to leave next year, I pray for her sake that it's NOT on the Ueda Shinji show that was just announced. No one deserves that fate!!

I'd definitely like her to stick around longer. She's one of those people who just oozes energy and charisma with that nice edge of zaniness as well :) I've just been watching the way Top Stars seem to get thinner and thinner as it comes up to the end of their run. Youka Wao was a prime example, as was Tani, who was frighteningly thin.

Yeah...top stardom seems to really take a toll on siennes. Komu is another one who got really, really thin towards the end. And I agree completely about Tani...people often talked about how thin Ume was, but I always worried about Tani anytime I looked at her arms T________T

This all makes me think of Touko for some reason. As much as I'm sad she didn't have a longer top star career, I can't blame her for choosing to preserve her health and sanity.

Definitely. Touko's one of the few recent Top Stars who left with a smile and some meat on her bones.

I was wondering who would be Kiriyan's nibante. Kimu sounds intriguing. I could go for that.

Well, nothing is official at this point. Typically only nibante get shows that play at both Bow Hall and Nippon Seinenkan, although there are exceptions. The fact that Masaki is being given a show that fits this criteria would make you think that she'll be the new nibante, but it's hard to know for at the moment. (For example, everyone assumed that Sou Kazuho would be Matobu Sei's nibante, but then Yuuhi was moved in unexpectedly at the last minute).
