Question about technology

A little off-topic, and my apologies for the double post for those of you who also read my RL journal.  How hard is it to copy the data from a DVD-RAM disc to a DVD-R disc that one can use in a regular DVD player?  Would I need any special software or hardware?  And how does Copy Once media protection play into all of it?
