Well, you see... (said Lucia, days late...) If you're ken-7 or less, you have to be in the shinko. It's not optional. Even Ayane-chan had the World's Tiniest Parts in the shinkos for Phantom and Kurotokage.
In Ai-chan's case it surely means the company thinks she's grown far beyond shinkos and has better things to be doing with her time. Like playing opposite Tom. I don't think her fans should be miserable!
