Alex/Moon Prince: Yamato Yuuga (5-ken)
Brian Keyes: Kiriya Hiromu (6-ken)
Eileen: Hanase Mizuka (5-ken)
The Doctor: Keiju Mana (5-ken)
Harry (archaeologist): Narumi Jun (6-ken)
Joe (Mercuries member): Ryouga Haruhi (4-ken)
Bill (Mercuries member): Hokusohu Kairi (2-ken)
Pete (Mercuries member): Shijou Rui (3-ken)
Paula (Mercuries' music producer): Kanou Chika (4-ken)
Jude (Brian's bodyguard): Kusonoki Keika (4-ken)
Scott (a member of the excavation group): Isshika Ruka (5-ken)
McCoy (priest of the Easter Moon): Ken Ruisu (4-ken)
Unfortunately right now these are the only roles that I can find information about on TakaWiki. Is there a reason why some of the other roles like Uranus and Irene aren't listed on the wiki? I may have to see if I can update these later tonight.

This is actually the first shinjikouen (or shinjikouen digest) that I've seen all of, as before all I had seen were some tsukigumi Elisabeth shinjikouen clips. I think there definitely is such a thing as "shinjikouen roughness." Which doesn't mean that they all suck, but rather that I do think Takarasiennes do mature with time. I think I found this digest more educational than anything else as to how some of these people were before they grew up. Given my tsukigumi love, this is a good thing. I'm going to do this by actress:
Tani: Don't get me wrong, Tani is one of my favorite Takarasiennes. But I never thought that her singing was her strongest point, and fortunately for her now (but unfortunately for this shinjikouen) I think that her singing has grown stronger since 2000. That being said, she had the beginnings of her Tani-esque charm. Not that Makoto Tsubasa looked old when she did this role, but Tani definitely looks younger (she must have 23-25 at the time). I think this changed her portrayal of Alex. Where Mami's Alex struck me as more of an established musician before getting writer's block, Tani's portrayal was a little more youthful.
Kiriyan: Like Tani, I think Kiriyan has matured with the years. However, that doesn't mean she wasn't fun to watch here! It made me happy to see the seeds of her "wickedness" a la Luigi Luchini and Algernon Moncrieff. I'm annoyed that they didn't show all of Anyone Can Be a Hero, as the end of that song allows the singer to really belt. Apparently Kiriyan was off doing the Berlin tour during the Tokyo shinjikouen so this was her only performance of Brian Keyes.
Hanase Mizuka: Given that musumeyaku get less interesting parts usually than otokoyaku, I often have trouble really judging them until after I've seen a few performances. There were some times that I liked her here, and some that I didn't. Apparently she had five lead roles during her shinjikouen period. How is that she seems to have dropped off the radar since?
Narumi Jun: In a word: adorable! And apparently she had some decent shinjikouen roles as well, so I'm not quite sure what happened to her.
Shijou Rui: Okay, I know I just used this word, but she was so adorable! Not that I don't really like her musumeyaku, but she made such a cute otokoyaku.
Micchan and Ahi: Once again, so cute! Unfortunately their roles were pretty small and in the digest they were clipped even shorter. But it made me smile to see these guys. Micchan must have been 20-22 at the time.
Most of the rest of the roles were too small for me to really comment on. Sadly I think that Natsukawa Yura and Yoshizuki Eri are pretty irreplacable. It's too bad they didn't show the scene where Harry and the Mercuries bring out the life size cardboard Alex standup, as it would have been fun to see one of Tani.
During "Anyone Can Be a Hero" they changed the heroes that everyone cited as their childhood heroes. Dunno if this was a shinjikouen thing or if the regular cast was changing it every night as well. When asked, Rui says that her heroes were Pokemon. Kiriyan replies, "Pikachu?" It was cute.
Not to put down the shinjikouen cast, but I think they were lacking whatever the regular cast had to be able to pull off such a silly show. Then again, this was the digest version. In any case, this was a fun "how did they start?" viewing, but I'm glad I got it for 3000 yen at Takarazuka-an as opposed to paying 10,000 yen on Yahoo auctions.

Date: 2007-06-03 05:27 pm (UTC)I have been wondering some time, too, about her and others. I'm a newbie to zuka and I really don't know much about the bts-stuff... but sometimes I get the impression that maybe they get asked after their shinko time what kind of career they want in zuka... 'try-for/rise-to-top-and-leave' or 'lifetime' ;) and when they choose the long haul, they get smaller roles than those on the star-track... :) [she's been around for pretty long already]
Small part of me hopes this is what happened to Hiromi...

Date: 2007-06-04 04:10 am (UTC)But it's also somewhat plausible that she got demoted, resp. others got promoted over her (=sent on the star-track). Sararan was the last Elmer, and she left... :( :(
