So according to [profile] arlecchinic, Pimpernel rehearsals did indeed start today.  And yet there is still no cast list.  Has this ever happened before?  I mean, ticket sales start on Saturday, don't they have to have it posted before then?  Cate pointed out some Bow Hall examples where tickets have gone on sale before the cast was announced, but that's Bow Hall.

The only thing I can think of is that they're making some last minute casting decisions.

To entertain myself in the mean time, here is a description of some of non-main roles:

Armand: Marguerite's younger brother who eventually joins the League of the Scarlet Pimpernel.  Gets a short duet with Marguerite.  In the books I like him, but he's kind of an annoying character in the musical.  Or maybe that's just the production I saw... Anyway, I would call this the sanbante role, except for Armand is meant to be younger.  I could see Suzumi Shio playing Armand more than Tatsuki You.  If Suzumi Shio is still too old, then maybe this would go to Kazu.
Dewhurst: Percy's close friend.  Is the one who originally tells Percy about Marguerite's betrayal.  He becomes a member of the League of the Scarlet Pimpernel.  Gets more lines than the rest of the league members.  I'm voting Tatsuki You for this one, although it's not a very big part for her.  Maybe Wildhorn could write another song?
Coupeau and Mercier: Chauvelin's aids.  I can't remember if they get any singing or not.  No solos, but they probably get to participate in the ensemble numbers.
Ozzy, Elton, Farleigh, Hal, and Ben: The other members of the League of the Scarlet Pimpernel.  These are great roles for up and coming otokoyaku.  These guys (along with Percy and Dewhurst) get to run around in disguise saving people from the guillotine.  When they're not doing that, they dress up as fops and prance around in order to deflect suspicion.  I'm guessing these roles will go to Haya-chan, Kazu, Tomomi, Mahiro Shun, etc.
Jessup: Percy's butler.  No solo singing that I can remember.  I had completely forgotten about this character until I looked at the cast list.
Prince of Wales: What the description says.  Also Percy's friend.  I don't think he gets any solo singing.
Robespierre: What the description says.  No solo singing, but gets to order Chie Chauvelin around a lot.
Marquis de St. Cyr: Gets executed at the guillotine at the beginning of the show, but gets a solo in the song "Madame Guillotine" before then.
Marie: A sculptor who looks down on the revolution that's happening in France.  Phillipe's fiance.  I don't think Marie gets any singing, except maybe in ensemble scenes.  I'm guessing this role will go to Nene.
Phillipe: Marie's fiance.  I don't think he gets any singing either, except in ensemble scenes like Marie.

In short, most of the solos really go to Touko, Asuka, and Chie.  However, there are a lot of good group numbers, so the rest of hoshigumi should still have fun things to do.

Aaagh, I already spent today going crazy at work waiting for roles to come out.  And I'm going to have to do it again tomorrow.  *glares at Hankyu*  It had better be up by the end of tomorrow!  Not to mention shinko leads.  I'm basing my travel plans on whether Nene or Mariya gets the shinko lead.  (Cate, am I missing anyone else for that one?)

A random tidbit too is that the Price of Wales and Robespierre have been played by the same performer in every production I know of (definitely all the Broadway variations, the national tour and a few of the smaller productions I've seen or friends of mine have seen). I'm curious to see whether they stick with that or they split them up between two people for the sake of giving more people featured roles.

Based on the way the roles are typically cast, I'm guessing that Ozzy will be played by someone a bit older. There's a very obvious age gap amongst the Bounders, and again assuming they stick pretty close to the existing script and all, there are some jokes around that. I could see either Junko or Shii playing that role. In fact I think Shii and Toyko as Dewhurst and Robespierre/Prince of Wales (I can see either playing either), Junko as Ozzy, Kazu as Armand, Haya as Hal, and Shun as Elton would be the best fit all the way around.

But of course this is all assuming that whatever changes are made to the show aren't OMG SUPER HUGE, and given Wildhorn's track record that is anyone's guess.

Oh, Hankyu...why do you make me suffer like that? Don't you how expensive the EMS fees are if you're shiping to South America? And yet, you throw this must-have-the-dvd kind of show too often for my taste.

Still, I'd pretty annoyed if Scarlet Pimpernel doesn't get a dvd. Oh well, it's like someone once said: welcome to the most expensive hobby in the world that doesn't involve yachts.

*mourning my poor, poor credit card bill*

Okay, I've got it. I think rehearsals started yesterday, but without 94ths. So today is actually the first day we have everyone, so it's the proper beginning of okeiko, and therefore we should have things while I'm at stupid baito today.

Also, shinko leads. It could be Marimo! It's not likely, but it could be. It's what I wish in my heart of hearts. Or it could be Seara, since it's her last shinko, but probably not, because apart from Anna this year, she hasn't had much of a push lately.
