We are very, very tired, and very, very behind on things.

Anyway, I was reminded while watching a DVD this morning of something that's been bothering me ever since I got into fandom.  Whenever I'm watching a scene on DVD in which a sienne goes into the audience, I'd say at least a good half of the people either look straight past the Takarasienne two feet in front of them, or at least look very uninterested.

I haven't been able to figure out why this is.  My guess would be that these disinterested-looking people belong to fan clubs and do NOT want to be caught on camera smiling and looking excited over a star other than their own.

And I suppose there's also the fact that Japanese people as a whole seem to be less animated than Americans, but I always wondered if there was some specific rule (spoken or otherwise) about how you're supposed to act on DVD filming day.

It could be the combination of the star-onstage thing and just the traditional "one must watch the main action" attitude that still prevails in some people when they go to the theatre.

Personally, I love interactive shows. Lord of the Rings the musical cracked me up because 15 minutes before curtain up, the Hobbits were playing in the auditorium.

For me... I find my smile freezes into a mask of terror when they get within thirty feet of me, which means I tend to get a blank look on my face instead....

I tend to lurk around on other fans' journals (yours obviously, too ;)). Now I *had* to comment on that entry..

Have wondered about this so often & for so long myself. Just yesterday I watched a show where the Top Star Musumeyaku walked straight into the audience, but no one even flashed her a glance.
However, I think I have noticed people staring at Top Stars singing solos when walking around between rows (especially during Bow Hall shows).. hm. Maybe it's indeed a "we have to follow the main action on stage" kinda thing, except the action takes place in the auditorium only or it's the Top Star getting really close.

I myself always look at them and try to send them my warmest smiles :) So far it seems as if all of them have liked that or at least didn't take offense.
